
Mr. DeArmond recently retired from Northside ISD in San Antonio after nearly 30 years of dedicated service as an orchestra teacher. During his tenure at Northside, his orchestras consistently earned numerous accolades for their outstanding performances.
This success paved the way for Mr. DeArmond to join the prestigious Texas Music Adjudicators Association, where he is regularly invited to adjudicate contests across the state of Texas.
In addition to his teaching career, Mr. DeArmond has remained an active professional musician. For over two decades, he has served as the principal double bassist with the Symphony of the Hills in Kerrville, Texas.
Mr. DeArmond has also played an integral role in his local Texas Music Educators Association, where he contributed to the region’s orchestra division and served in various leadership capacities throughout his career.
Originally from Louisiana, Mr. DeArmond began his musical journey on the violin in 4th grade. In high school, he transitioned to the double bass to help fill a need in the orchestra. To pursue his dream of becoming a music educator, he attended Baylor University, where he earned his degree in music.
Now living in San Antonio with his family, Mr. DeArmond is excited to dedicate his retirement to continuing his support for music education, empowering both teachers and students alike.
